Trees were down everywhere after Hurricane Sandy hit, but more than seven weeks later there is still a fallen tree in Queens that is severely impacting residents' lives. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following NY1 For You report.

A massive fallen tree, wreckage from Hurricane Sandy, is still blocking a private drive in the East Elmhurst section of Queens, leaving residents out in the cold for almost two months now.

"We have been using all the blankets we have and then when it gets really cold we try just to get together because it's just cold," says tenant Veimar Balbuema.

The tree hangs so low that there is not enough clearance for an oil truck to get to the building, meaning the residents have no heat.

The freezing tenants say the huge tree not only blocks oil deliveries but also weighs down on a number of wires.

"She has called 311 and 911 to see if they could help," Balbuema says.

The tenants have not heard back from the city. They also tried to contact the owner of the property the tree fell from but could not reach him.

NY1 had no luck either, but the station did reach the landlord of the tenants' building, and she arranged to have the oil delivery come through the front of the building.

So for now, the renters are relieved to have heat back, and they hope the tree will soon be removed.

NY1 placed calls to various companies to try and figure out who the wires belong to, in hopes of getting the tree removed.
