The R subway train ran south of 34th Street today for the first time since Hurricane Sandy, but it will still take weeks before its runs into Brooklyn.
As of this morning, R trains are running to the Whitehall Street station, where there is only one escalator working.
Crews are still working hard to get the entire line running into Brooklyn, which Governor Andrew Cuomo said should happen by the end of the month.
This comes as limited express train service is restored on the Staten Island Railway for the first time since Sandy.
Trains that serve the ferries departing at 7:25, 8 and 8:15 a.m. are now up and running.
The other seven express trains will be restored incrementally and should be back by the end of the year.
Riders told NY1 the trip is still slower than usual, but it was an improvement from the last few weeks.
The Staten Island Railway saw major damage to its electrical components.
Outside contractors are working to get service fully restored.
