Authorities in the Bronx are searching for a man they say shot another man while pretending to be a police officer.

Surveillance video shows the alleged impersonator knocking on the door of 2441 Crotona Avenue around 5:30 p.m. on October 30.

Police say the victim mistook the suspect for someone he knew and let him in the apartment.

They say the suspect then pulled a gun and a badge and demanded money.

When the victim tried to run, police say the suspect shot him in the leg.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and the suspect got away empty-handed.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
