Ruling Expected Soon On Religious Groups' Use Of City Schools

The battle involving city schools and religious groups that use school buildings after hours will soon be decided on.
A three-judge panel is expected to rule on whether the groups have to find another location to congregate.
The mayor has said religious meetings on school property blurs the line between church and state. But church leaders argue their congregations play a vital, healing role in the community.
"The church has always been the mobilizing force. Even with an example like this, Sandy, happening here. The church was the fastest mobilizing force in the city that showed up four days above the City even giving a response," said Reverend Dimas Salaberrios of Infinity NY Church.
"There's resistance and this pressure that they're putting against the church is just not fair," said Reverend Rick Del Rio of Abounding Grace Ministries.
A ruling is expected sometime in the next couple of months.
