Kelly Supports Decision To Drop Charges Against Man Punched By Police

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says he supports Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes' decision to drop charges against a man whose beating by police was caught on tape.
After reviewing all available evidence, the DA said Monday he will not prosecute 21-year old Ehud Halevy.
Two officers confronted Halevy at a Jewish youth center in Crown Heights on Oct. 8 after getting a 911 call saying he refused to leave.
Police say Halevy resisted arrest and had to be subdued.
The youth center said Halevy was given permission to stay there.
"Once it was established that the young man had permission, then there was no trespass," Hynes said. "No trespass, no case."
"That's the district attorney's decision and certainly, we support the DA's decision," Kelly said.
One of the officers is now on modified duty pending an investigation.
In a statement, Halevy's attorney said he's pleased with the DA's decision.
