There were several lineup changes for the Yankees as they looked to avoid a 3-0 hole in the ALCS Tuesday night in Detroit.

Third baseman Alex Rodriguez and outfielder Nick Swisher were benched for Game 3.

Rodriguez and Swisher are hitting a combined 7 for 52 in the postseason.

Eric Chavez started at third base in place of Rodriguez while Brett Gardner started in left field and hit leadoff.

It was Gardner's first start since April 17.
