Man Charged With Defrauding Failed B'Way Transfer "Rebecca"

A Long Island businessman hit a low note Monday morning after being arrested for allegedly defrauding producers of a failed Broadway show.
Police arrested Mark Hotton, 46, at his home in West Islip.
Investigators say he told producers of the musical adaption of Alfred Hitchock's "Rebecca" he was interested in investing $4.5 million in the show and could provide a $1.1 million loan.
In exchange, he asked producers to pay him more than $60,000 in fees and commissions.
However, police say Hotton's story was all an elaborate scheme and the financial backers he claimed to have, including a South African businessman who mysteriously died, never existed.
The show was eventually shelved over financial woes.
Hotton is charged with two counts of wire fraud and also faces charges in connection with an unrelated real estate fraud scheme on Long Island.
