Halloween Inspired Attractions Give Visitors Frightful Fill

Halloween is right around the corner and some of the best chills and thrills this season can be found right along the east coast. NY1's Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.
The scare factor starts close to home in Jackson, New Jersey at Six Flags Great Adventure, for the annual weekend-only Fright Fest. From 1,200 pounds of webbing to 770 gallons of fog juice the attraction creates the ambience for family friendly activities during the day and more ghoulish experiences for adults and teens at night.
To beat the crowds plan to go on Friday night or Sunday. It runs through October 28th. Entry is included with park admission.
Next, the terror moves behind the walls at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. This massive abandoned prison is now a historic site you can visit during the day. During Halloween season the jail is transformed into a haunted house at night -- six attractions in all -- which include visits to cell blocks where zombie inmates are still serving time.
Remember, this is not a theme park and even without the Halloween touches, the prison is rumored to be haunted. Kids under seven are not allowed and families with kids 7-12 are advised to come before 9 p.m. on Sundays when monsters are better behaved.
Perhaps the best staged frights are in Florida, courtesy of Universal Studios Orlando. The 22nd year of its Halloween Horror Nights extravaganza features seven haunted houses that are straight out of a movie set with professional props and silver screen scare tactics. Don’t think you’re in a safe zone if you manage to escape, because the enhanced street experience shows no mercy either.
Halloween Horror Nights, recommended only for kids 13 years and up, takes place on select nights through October 31.
