NY1 VIDEO: She launched her Congressional career with a major upset victory, only to see the tables turned years later when she lost a bid to win re-election as City Comptroller. Liz Holtzman's supporters claimed sexism played a role in her stunning defeat. NY1's Andrew Kirtzman filed the following report on Sept. 29, 1993 on the fallout from the hard-fought primary battle.
NY1 FOLLOW-UP: Holtzman would dip her toe back in the political arena in 2011 when she expressed interested in running for the Congressional seat vacated by Anthony Weiner but currently works as an attorney. Hevesi would go on to be elected State Comptroller but was forced to resign amid scandal. He's currently serving a prison sentence of up to four years for his role in a pay-to-play pension fund scheme.
