Cirque Web Experience A First Of Its Kind

Known for changing the definition of what a circus is, Cirque du Soleil is now helping to change the way people use the web. NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report.

What would bring performers from Cirque du Soleil to a launch event with Google? How about a project the two are working on that could change the way we interact with the web.

Movi.Kanti.Revo is an online Cirque du Soleil experience that uses a new feature in the web language HTML5, which can, with your permission, activate your webcam. Once it does that you then navigate through the site using just your face and voice.

"So as the user watches and interacts with the experience as they move their head it changes their perspective within the world. So you get sort of a Cirque du Soleil-like show but you get to interact with it you get to be there. At a couple of points as you move your head you're going to go down a different path. So the first time you watch it you'll see one thing but then when I watch it I might see a completely different path so you get a different story each time," explains Pete LePage of Google.

Developers say they're interested to see how the creative types out there will take the technology to bring a non-traditional twist to online content.

"We're able to tell narrative now in a way that is instead of a passive experience a place where people can be tremendously involved with it and find their own way with it," says Nicole McDonald of Subatomic Systems.

Google says that while the website is optimized for its Chrome browser it can work with all browsers.

If you'd like to try it out, it's at www.MoviKantiRevo.com.
