NY1 VIDEO: Aussie sensation Gotye will headline a sold-out concert at Radio City Music Hall Tuesday night. Also taking the stage as his special guest is Missy Higgins. She also hails from Australia but has made NYC her home over the years as well. NY1's Stephanie Simon filed the following report.

Missy Higgins's new song, "Everyone's Waiting," does feel like a wave of emotion crashing over you. And that's what fans love about her: the depth of feeling in her lyrics. But originally, the singer-songwriter just wanted to be a singer.

"That was before I knew I could write songs and before people started liking the songs that I wrote," she said.

Her hit song, "Where I Stood," has been featured in nearly a dozen TV shows, including One Tree Hill and Grey's Anatomy.

Now, the 29-year-old just released her third album, The Ol' Razzle Dazzle. And she's playing Radio City Music Hall Tuesday with fellow Aussie and friend Gotye.

"He’s number one in the world at the moment, so it’s really exciting to be a part of that," she said. "I played a couple of shows with him before, yeah. It’s the energy of his band, the audience because he’s got such crazy fans over here. It’s really exciting. And he’s gotten me to sing the Kimbra part of that song ("Somebody That I Used To Know") too, which is very nerve-wracking but a very cool thing to be a part of.”

Higgins has lived on and off in Brooklyn while working and playing in the U.S. and says the city has been a major influence on her music.

“Well, hidden ones. The first line is 'She’s holding a torch in her hand, pointing towards her hand,' which is obviously the Statue of Liberty 'cause I was staying in Sunset Park at the time," she says. "And you can see the Statue of Liberty from the park 'cause it was up high."

Higgins will finish the American leg of her tour this October and then head back to Australia to perform for her fans back home.
