In honor of World Peace Day, artist and longtime peace activist Yoko Ono caused quite a stir in Times Square Friday when she came out to see her own video art on several big screens.

The work displays the words "Imagine Peace" in many languages.

Speaking exclusively to NY1, the widow of John Lennon said like his song people need to "Imagine."

"First of all they have to start thinking peace and acting peace and spreading peace and imagining peace. And actually imagining things is actually a very good way to make something work that's the first thing that happens. You imagine and then you make it work," Ono said.

"Yoko has been working and campaigning for peace all of her life really. she is such an incredible artist. she is brace and she is honest and she speaks to so many people with her work," said Art Production Fund Co-Founder Doreen Remen.

The event was organized by the Art Production Fund and the Times Square Alliance.

The display will show intermittently through 12 a.m. Saturday.
