Latino Actors Attend Midtown Audition For "Sesame Street" Role

"Sesame Street" held a casting call for the first time in the show's 43-year history on Monday, and hundreds of Latino actors came to audition for the role at the Roseland Ballroom.
Producers were looking for a bilingual, funny Latino who can sing to be part of the cast for the show's 44th season.
For many at the Midtown casting call, it was the opportunity of a lifetime.
"Sesame Street is the funniest, most colorful polite place on earth and I've always, always, always dreamed of being on Sesame Street," said one auditioner.
"When I was little, I used to watch Sesame Street in my country in Peru. I always remember all the characters like Abelardo or Big Bird and moving to America it was one of the biggest programs that helped me to learn English here," said another.
The show's 44th season, which begins in September 2013, will focus on Latino heritage.
