NY1 VIDEO: On the afternoon of August 18, 2007, a fire began on the 17th floor of the former Deutsche Bank Building, a shell being dismantled due to structural damage sustained on 9/11. Due to the maze-like conditions inside and a missing standpipe, fighting the blaze was extremely dangerous. By the time it was put out, two firefighters had lost their lives and dozens more were seriously injured. NY1's Amanda Farinacci filed the following report.

NY1 FOLLOW-UP: Following the fire, the demolition subcontractor and three supervisors at the site were indicted on charges of manslaughter for their role in the deaths of the two firefighters. After months-long trials, all three supervisors were found not guilty on all charges. The subcontractor, the John Galt Corporation, was found guilty of a single misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment.
