NY1 VIDEO: During 2009's H1N1 outbreak, hospitals were packed with patients, some wearing face masks, concerned that they or their children were suffering from the flu. NY1's Kafi Drexel filed this report on May 19, 2009.
NY1 FOLLOW-UP: According to the New York City Health Department, there were more than 3,000 confirmed cases of H1N1 in the city during the pandemic. Nearly 100 people died. A vaccine became available in the city in October of 2009.
