Public Advocate Bill de Blasio claimed a victory Tuesday in the fight to secure assistance for September 11th first responders.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio said the city will turn over key health history information on workers who helped in the September 11th rescue and recovery efforts, in a step toward potentially linking cancer diagnoses to service at the site and obtaining benefits for workers.

De Blasio blamed the city for not doing all it can to help those who served.

Advocates are pushing for eventual coverage of cancer under the Zadroga Bill, benefiting first responders.
