A former U.S. Marine honored for saving lives in Afghanistan paid tribute to the victims of September 11th at the World Trade Center site on Wednesday.
A week after receiving the Medal of Honor, Dakota Meyer visited the September 11th Memorial on Wednesday.
The Port Authority Police Marine Corps Association presented him with an American Flag and a piece of steel from the Twin Towers.
"I'm really at a loss of words right now, and that doesn't happen a lot to me," said Meyer I come down here and I see this, and it really hits home. Because, it gives you -- it lets you know what you're fighting for everyday."
"Just like they told you after 9/11, all of our heroes perished on 9/11 at the World Trade Center. Sergeant Meyer is the new hero," said Port Authority Police Benevolent Association President Paul Nunziato.
Meyer received the Medal of Honor for saving three dozen people and killing at least eight insurgents during a firefight with the Taliban in 2009.
