A man beaten to death in an apparent bias attack in Brooklyn will be flown to his native Ecuador for burial.
José Sucuzhañay's family is making arrangements to have his body flown back to his home country.
He died Friday, nearly a week after he was attacked in Bushwick.
Police say four men in a burgundy Ford Explorer attacked the 31-year-old real estate broker and his brother Romel with an aluminum baseball bat.
Witnesses say the attackers were yelling gay and Hispanic slurs.
Hundreds gathered yesterday near the site of the attack where they called for justice.
"My brother could have been the victim this time and tomorrow it could be somebody else," said Diego Sucuzhañay, one of the victim's brothers. "It could be someone from your family or it could be yourself, so please if you know something, don't wait; report it as soon as possible."
"You standing here today is an incredibly powerful statement," said City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. "It says that we're not going to live in fear."
"Every single day we are reminded there is more fight to do: more fight for justice, more fight to make this the perfect union it can be," said Representative Anthony Weiner. Police have released a sketch of one of the suspects. He's described as a dark-skinned male between 18 and 20 years old, about six feet tall with a thin build. He was seen wearing a dark baseball cap, a black leather jacket, dark jeans and boots.
Rewards totaling $27,000 are being offered for information leading to arrests and convictions in the case.
