The state turned down TransGas' plans to build a power plant in Brooklyn on Thursday.

Officials said the company's three different proposals for an 1,100-megawatt plant in North Brooklyn did not meet health and environmental requirements.

TransGas had been trying to build on the site since 2002 when it submitted its first proposal.

Several community groups opposed to the project said they are happy with the decision.
