Brooklyn Man Faces Weapons Charges After Cops Find Explosives

A Brooklyn man is facing weapons charges after police found several explosive devices in his Brooklyn Heights apartment Sunday.

Police say 37-year-old Ivaylo Ivanov has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, unlawfully wearing a body vest and reporting a false incident.

At least three devices were found and removed from the Remsen Street apartment without incident Sunday morning.

Police also found a number of other weapons in the apartment.

Residents in the immediate area were evacuated from their homes for hours while the bomb squad investigated.

Police went to Ivanov's home to investigate after he checked himself in to Long Island College Hospital to be treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
