Over the next four years, he reported on the resignation of Governor Eliot Spitzer, the ascension of Governor David Paterson, and the worst fiscal crisis in a generation. He was the first to report the end of the State Senate coup that gridlocked government for more than a month in the summer of 2009, and scored numerous interviews with local and state newsmakers. He also reported from both national political conventions in 2008.

In late 2009 he left Albany to become a city-based political reporter, and now covers stories in New York City and beyond. In addition to airing on NY1, his stories appear on Time Warner Cable stations across New York State.

Robin came to television after a career as a newspaper reporter, mostly recently for the New York City edition of Newsday and, before, at The Seattle Times and The New York Times. At Newsday, he was part of a team that was a finalist for the 2004 Pulitzer Prize in spot news.

He began his journalism career as a college student in a Nairobi, Kenya-based program. While a stringer for the Nairobi Law Monthly, he reported on allegations of police brutality along the border with Sudan.

Robin received an undergraduate degree from Tufts University and a master's degree from Stanford. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, journalist Manoush Zomorodi, and their children, Kai and Soraya. When not working, he likes spending time with his family and bicycling in Prospect Park.
