Police say Crowe threw a phone at Nestor Estrada after he was unable to call his wife in Australia from his room at the Mercer Hotel in June.
Now the London Daily Mail says Estrada is close to signing an $11 million deal in exchange for dropping all charges.
Crowe is scheduled to appear in a Manhattan court on September 14.
According to the newspaper, the settlement would allow Crowe to avoid assault and weapons possession charges, which could prevent him from working in the United States.
