Feel free to smile for the camera the next time you're underground — authorities have dropped plans for a ban on photography in the New York City subway system.
Police officials have concluded that the ban is not necessary to keep the city's transportation systems safe.
The ban was part of a post-9/11 security plan proposed by transit officials last year.
The NYPD says that officers will continue to investigate any suspicious activity.
Critics had said that imposing the ban would violate free speech and target the wrong people.
