The city's Department Of Sanitation issued a "Snow Alert" ahead of Monday night's wintry mix of snow and sleet which was expected to turn into rain overnight.
Several inches of snow fell onto the city Monday night.
As with storms past, sanitation workers readied equipment for a quick response to any snow that may fall.
That includes loading hundreds of salt spreaders, attaching plows to trucks and installing tire chains.
Sanitation workers are also being put on alert for the possibility of extended shifts.
