Seniors in Manhattan now have a new place to turn to boost their technology skills.
A 2,700 square foot senior center is now open on West 25th Street in Chelsea.
The Senior Planet Exploration Center features a computer lab with 23 workstations, a studio for smartphone and tablet training and even a video gaming area.
"I have a desire to learn about the digital job searching," said Wanda Withers, a visitor to the center.
"Instead of seniors being isolated and at home, they've reconnected with their grandchildren who would send them emails, and would never have written a note or picked up the phone," said Muriel Beach, a visitor to the center.
The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is geared toward people 60 and older.
The nonprofit "Older Adults Technology Services" is running the center with funding from various sources, including NY1's parent company Time Warner Cable.
