Local elected officials want the New York City Housing Authority to hold off on a plan to lease playgrounds, community centers and parking lots to developers in order to build luxury apartments.

In a letter to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NYCHA Chairman John Rhea, community board members, as well as officials from the City Council and the State Legislature, called for more transparency and community input for the project.

They asked to delay any requests for proposals until NYCHA residents have their say.

Opponents say the city has to take into account how the projects will impact their quality of life.

The city says the plan will bring in much-needed revenue.
