Police in Queens are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a police car Thursday morning.

Investigators say the officers were responding to a call of an assault with a knife at the time of the accident.

Police say the officers were driving down 40th Avenue in Astoria when they hit a man crossing mid-block near 10th Street.

He died at the scene.

Police say the car's emergency lights were on, but it's not clear if the sirens were on as well.
