School bus service resumed for private schools and pre-K classes Tuesday with the full fleet expected back on the road Wednesday.

That's when public school classes resume after a winter break.

School officials have been notifying parents that the strike has ended but warn there could be some hiccups as service resumes.

Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott says all MetroCards issued by the city will expire tomorrow, and is urging parents to return them to their child's school.

Walcott says the city actually saved about $80 million over the course of the strike despite spending more than $20 million students get to school.

Drivers and matrons from the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1181 ended their month-long strike Friday after the five likely Democratic candidates for mayor vowed to revisit the union's concerns about seniority protections, if elected.
