Some Manhattan subway riders could be in for a surprise when they arrive at their subway stations Thursday morning.
Members of the Transport Workers Union Local 100 will be at several stations handing out mock MetroCards that have fake blood on the front and the Grim Reaper on the back.
It's part of the union's campaign to get train operators to slow down before entering the station, which they say would cut down on rider deaths.
The union has also been calling to put MTA agents on crowded subway platforms and emergency power shutoff switches at all station booths.
The MTA says that slowing down trains would only increase crowding at the stations and make them more dangerous.
While 55 people were killed by trains last year, the agency compares that figure to the 1.64 billion subway rides taken.
The MTA says it wants to work with the union on a public education campaign to keep people from standing on platform edges.
