Strong winds and rain overnight knocked out power in some parts of the city, including Staten Island, as temperatures are expected to plummet back to a more seasonable level for the weekend.

By 5 to 6 o'clock Thursday morning, winds reached speeds of 44 mph at Central Park, 59 mph at JFK Airport and 64 mph at LaGuardia Airport.

Utility work crews were restoring power in Tottenville and other neighborhoods throughout the morning.

"We got five days of the hurricane, we were out for five days. Then you get mad and you use some bad words but these guys, very good job last night and I have no problems," said one Staten Island resident.

Nevertheless, some Tottenville residents told NY1 the overnight weather was a lot milder, compared to the difficulties they faced following Hurricane Sandy in October.

Temperatures are falling from a high of 60 degrees earlier this morning to the 30s by late afternoon.

A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.

Tonight will see lows in the 20s and brisk winds, and tomorrow is expected to be party sunny with highs in the mid-30s, with some possible flurries in the afternoon.
