Parents are looking for answers after part of a light fixture containing PCBs exploded in a Staten Island classroom.

The New York City Department of Education assured parents at a meeting at P.S. 50 in Oakwood Tuesday night that the fixture was removed, and it was safe for children to attend the school.

Despite this, parents asked for all the classrooms to be tested for PCBs.

The DOE said that since the PCBs did not actually leak out of the fixture, there's no real danger, but that didn't satisfy some parents.

"I can't stand here and say that I will allow my child to go back into that classroom unless it is decontaminated, unless it is air tested, and we see the results," said one parent at the meeting.

The DOE said it put the school on a priority list for replacing the fixtures, which will take place this summer.
