A Queens woman is facing drunk driving charges after police say her car plunged into waters near John F. Kennedy Airport in Queens on Sunday morning, killing one of her passengers.
Denise Finley, 32, was charged by police with driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.
Authorities say Finley lost control of her Ford vehicle while traveling south on Brookville Boulevard at Rockaway Boulevard around 4:30 a.m.
The car, which was carrying six people, overturned and fell into the water.
Dominique Jamison
One passenger, 25-year-old Dominique Jamison, was critically injured and later died in the hospital. Three others passengers were treated for minor injuries and released and one ran from the scene.
Six firefighters also received minor injuries during the rescue.
Jamison, a single mother of a seven-month-old girl, had recently earned her bachelor's degree in acting, and was coming home from a night out celebrating with friends.
"Right now, my heart is broke, it's just broke. It's, it's... there's no bringing her back to me," said Lenay Jamison, Dominique's mother. "I just have to remember the good times with my daughter. My only girl, she loved her baby."
Lenay Jamison plans to raise her granddaughter.
