The Department of Sanitation said Thursday it will end a program that's been in place since the hurricane to help remove debris from hard hit areas on Dec. 31.
Sanitation crews have provided extra pickups in parts of Staten Island, southern Queens and Brooklyn to facilitate storm clean up.
They've collected over 379,000 tons of garbage and debris so far.
Anyone with storm related trash is urged to put it out before Dec. 31.
The Sanitation Department said homeowners engaging in large demolition and reconstruction projects should arrange for their own dumpsters and contact a private removal service.
Normal pickup resumes Jan. 2.
