JetBlue gave a check for $820,000 to the Red Cross for Sandy relief.
Most of the money was donated by more than 7,400 of the airline's customers.
Two of those customers, one from Long Island and the other from New Orleans, were on hand for the check presentation.
"JetBlue proved themselves to be a company of compassion," donor Niki Glarakis said. "They sent me an email, took the initiative, rewarded me for my donation with points. I've had such a great experience with them."
"We had 4,100 crew members that, our term for employees, that live here in the region. We were impacted as well and we wanted to do whatever we could to try to give back," JetBlue Chief Operating Officer Rob Maruster said.
"It's generous support from companies like this that allow us to serve hundreds of thousands of people in distress," CEO of the Red Cross of the Greater New York Region Josh Lockwood said.
JetBlue kicked in $100,000 of its own.
