A man was hit and killed by a tractor trailer in the Bronx Thursday.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Mott Haven.

Police say 69-year-old Ignecio Cubano was pronounced dead at the scene.

People who saw him get hit frantically tried to help, but it was too late.

"What I witnessed was this older gentleman crossing the street and that tractor trailer turning right here, and in one instant, he was under it," said one witness.

"Everyone was screaming," said another witness. "I believe he's from the neighborhood, that's probably why."

The driver stayed at the scene.

Police say no criminality is suspected.
