A man is in custody after police say he stabbed the mother of his child in front of their young son on the Upper West Side by Central Park Wednesday morning.
The stabbing, which police say resulted from a domestic dispute, happened shortly before 11 a.m. at Central Park West and 103rd Street.
Police say the man slashed the 30-year-old woman's arm and then assaulted her.
The man then tried to wound himself before he was arrested, according to authorities.
A Department of Parks and Recreation worker viewed the incident and called police, who brought the couple and their four-year-old child to St. Luke's Hospital.
The man and woman are in stable condition and the boy was found to have escaped injury.
None of the injuries are life-threatening.
Three police officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
