Spreading good news on Friday night's is getting contagious. Like a really good bad cold. If New Yorkers keep these stories coming, we might just have a new regular segment.

His random of act of kindness has gone viral. The photo of an NYPD officer putting boots on the feet of homeless man near Times Square is making news headlines, and spreading across the Internet. A tourist from Arizona captured Officer Lawrence DePrimo’s good deed. This is just one of many acts of kindness we’ve seen across the City, especially in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Earlier today, a wealthy Missouri man posing as “Secret Santa” handed out $100 bills to some residents on Staten Island who lost their homes in the storm. Tonight, the owner of a Bronx furniture store will join State Senator Jeff Klein to deliver furniture to a family whose home was destroyed from Sandy.

NYPD officer Larry DePrimo proved once again that NYPD Finest cares about its citizens. Officer DePrimo while on duty in the Times Square area came upon a homeless man without shoes or socks. He went to a shoe store and bought him a pair of all weather boots and than went to another store and bought him socks. What really got to me he went to put them on him the new shoes and socks. A true act of kindness. Now there are some who don't know what it means to be homeless but I do. I was homeless for a time in the winter of 75' after the Vietnam War and found myself roaming the streets of Hempstead. I was just out of the Navy and had few friends or family members who could not help. It was a kind act of a stranger from Nigeria named Cyril who saw my plight and gave me shelter. Officer DePrimo is an example of a fine police officer who went above and beyond the call of duty like many of our police officers, do on a day to day basis. Officer DePrimo, a stranger who saw a fellow human being hurting and did lend a helping hand. Now to all police officers you see tell them this: Thank You for all that you do.

Tom Kilkenny of Wappingers Falls NY has been phenomenal in his generosity organizing drives to get needed supplies to victims in Hamilton Beach who then make sure it is evenly distributed even to other areas, Broad Channel, the Rockaways, wherever we could reach, currently he's making sure no child goes without Christmas this year. On the first day after the water subsided, he received a call from a CT friend and within 3 hours cars stuffed with supplies came pouring in. Simply AMAZING!

I went to see the broadway show Once on Broadway just the day after the hurricane in order to support people that suffer from the disasters. It happen that some of the actors were also affected by the hurricane. But they were willing to deliver and perform for the shows and put aside their situations at home. On Saturday Nov 3rd. After the show, the actors announced that they would like to collect money to support the struggling families affected by Sandy. They had an auction for an Ukulele that went from $100 dollars to a total of $15.000 (Yes, Fifteen Thousand US Dollars) to support the families struggling the aftermath of sandy. That's something that make us see the real New Yorkers united.

It's great to see acts of kindness in the aftermath of Sandy and I can only hope that this kind of good will and generosity becomes commonplace and not an anomaly.

The recent photo and story about Officer Larry DePrimo buying a pair of boots and giving them to a homeless man on the street exemplifies what our men and women in uniform are all about. Our policemen and women tirelessly dedicate themselves to protecting the people of this city every single day. They are very caring and professional in the performance of their jobs,and very often go above and beyond of what is required of them. Officer DePrimo is to be commended for his caring,professional attitude and dedication to the police department. We are very fortunate to have him on our police force. If everyone could be like him,and show acts of kindness to those much less fortunate then ourselves,this world would be a much better place. I am sure that the homeless man who was given those boots certainly was very appreciative to Officer DePrimo for his thoughtfulness and kindness.As we are now into the holiday season,let's try to help somebody who has less than we do. Any little act of kindness would be appreciated by them from us.

Hi John,

The stories are all so touching especially the first story I did learn about when NYPD Officer Lawrence DiPrimo's kindness towards a homeless person that didn't have either socks or shoes. He did not question the price but just did the good deed. At that point i was more than pleased that it brought tears to my eyes and then he quoted something about what his grandfather said when he was little boy and i said this is a guy that had a very good upbringing. The other two are to be commended also. My feeling is that a least we all know that the three good deeds out of their kindness and humanity makes it even more special that we know that the gifts went directly to the unfortunate three.

The acts of kindness that i have witnessed all these weeks were so touching. Just one good deed after another and i shed many tears for them all and last nights meeting on Staten Island was just to touching to see and hear.

This man is confronted with hundreds of homeless , needy people constantly. A person in his position gets numb to the situation . So HE WENT THE EXTRA MILE! We all should.

The non-profit organization Red Hook Initiative deserves major recognition for their response to Sandy. The storm surge flooded the block and reached their doors but they still had power and heat. The very next morning RHI's doors were open offering internet, phone charging, and warmth. By that night they were serving hot food to the thousands of residents of the Red Hook Houses. Hot meals were available daily for weeks. Legal advice, clothes, water, etc, etc.

The Director, Jill, is amazing. Check them out and give them some recognition!

The New York City Sanitation Department went above and beyond. Without them - we would have been in trouble that we can not even comprehend. They keep us all safe from disease and death! They are the true heroes! Without them - we could not begin to rebuild.

Thanks for doing the show. Even though I never experienced this with my eyes but have seen her facebook page, my friend, Sheena Foster, and a few of her friends created a non-profit called "Tea for Humanity" & distributes well deserved cups of tea to victims and volunteers in the areas affected by Sandy. The interaction of sharing stories, enriches the lives of the volunteer, and people working to rebuild their lives.

As for the other acts you mentioned, it is awesome that people are doing great stuff in NYC & around the country and becomes a staple in NYC.

My husband and I went down to south beach and midland beach 2 weeks ago to give out water and cash. We would like to go back and give more. Where is the store or location where the secret santa was giving out money to help?

We werent impacted by the storm but want to help out because we care very much. By the way the cop who gave the shoes to the homeless man is something we should all do.

My husband and I went to Breezy Point on Wednesday and I have to say I think all NYers deserve a pat on the back. From donating clothes, food, money... we really answered the call to help our fellow NYers.
