Police on Staten Island confirmed Thursday the bodies of two young boys who went missing during the massive storm have been found.

Authorities say the bodies of two-year-old Brendan Moore and his four-year-old brother, Connor Moore, were found in a marshy area at McLaughlin Street and Olympia Boulevard.

The boys were washed away by the storm surge Monday night as they were evacuating with their mother to join relatives in Brooklyn.

Investigators say they were traveling in a Ford Explorer SUV on Father Capodanno Boulevard when it was overcome by six feet of water.

Police say their mother took her boys out of the vehicle and tried to hold on to them, but they eventually slipped out of her reach.

Starting on Tuesday, rescue crews searched for the boys by foot and air in a marshy area next to the boulevard.

The mayor confirmed Thursday the death toll from Sandy had risen to 37.
