A proposed law in Albany named for disgraced former State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Junior reportedly would crack down on lawmakers who do not file campaign contribution documents.

According to the New York Post, the new bill - titled "Espada's Law" - would punish state lawmakers who repeatedly avoid filing mandatory contribution and expense reports.

Breaking the law could land a politician in jail for a year.

Espada is facing up to seven years in prison after admitting to tax fraud.

He was convicted in May of looting $400,000 from the health clinic he ran.
