Just days after a man from Bangladesh was arrested on terror charges, members of the city's Bangladeshi community gathered for a rally Sunday calling for peace.

The group held a rally in Jackson Heights, Queens, saying their country is peaceful and does not resort to acts of terrorism.

Last week, federal agents arrested 21-year-old Quazi Nafis for trying to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank in Lower Manhattan.

Officials say the bomb was a fake and the man Nafis bought it from was an FBI informant.

Protestors say Nafis does not represent their views.

"One deranged individual does not represent the whole community. He is not the face of our community," said John Uddin of the Jalabad Association.

"Regardless of where he's from - we do not support any terrorism. We are an extremely peaceful nation," said Bedarul Islam of the Bangladesh League of America.

Nafis is charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and providing material support to Al-Qaeda.

The Bangladeshi government is said to be cooperating with the investigation.
