Brooklyn is going toe-to-toe with world-class boxing.
Brooklyn-born professional boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi, along with pro boxers Luis Collazo and Daniel Jacobs, are now gearing up for matches at Barclays Center.
The men were training Tuesday at the legendary Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn Heights.
"Every time I come back to Brooklyn, my family, my friends always receive me well and the opportunity to perform here is something special," Malignaggi said.
"The last year and a half of my life, I've been stricken with cancer," Jacobs said. "So to come back and to have beaten cancer and to have this opportunity to box at the Barclay and I'm a Brooklynite, so it's amazing."
"For those that live here in Brooklyn, to see the names and fighters that they've grown up being fans of on the stage at Barclays Center, I think is a big deal," said Brett Yormark, the CEO of Barclays Center.
The event takes place on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Tickets can be purchased online at barclayscenter.com or at ticketmaster.com.
