If you can't get a ticket to the New York Film Festival, why not travel just a few hours outside of the city to see some of the hottest films, all while sitting seaside? You can do this at The Hamptons International Film Festival. NY1's Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.

Traffic thins out. The beach and that hot table are now yours. Welcome to fall in the Hamptons, where it’s also your ticket to the movies you’ve been dying to see.

"We show our films from Westhampton to Montauk, Sag Harbor to Easthampton and it’s a wonderful way in a beautiful resort area to see the newest films coming up, the Academy Award contenders." says Karen Arikian, the executive director of the Hamptons International Film Festival.

The 20th annual Hamptons International Film Festival takes place over Columbus Day weekend, headquartered at the Maidstone Inn.

"There’s about 150 films in the festival," says David Nugent, the festival's director of programming. "Everything from a big film like Cloud Atlas to really small indie films, documentaries, short films. A little bit for everyone."

It's easy to come just for the day.

"If you take the jitney, you can just come to Easthampton," Arikian says. "There’s seven screens in Easthampton. You can get a full day of screening in, probably attend a few events, seminars and panels."

Don’t worry about transportation once you’re here

"Hop on a jitney if you want to get from Easthampton to Southampton," Arikian says. "It's free with your badge."

Star sightings should be very visible.

"Alec Baldwin is doing a special event with Richard Gere, a conversation with him," Nugent says. "We’re doing a celebrity event with Alan Cumming. We're doing a celebrity event with Stevie Nicks."

Despite the celebrity factor, it's chill.

"There’s no big red carpet, no gala, dressing up," Arikian says. "Just come on out, see the films, walk the streets, shop the stores, go to the beach and eat well."

Tickets range from $15 to $1,500.
