NY1 VIDEO: As NY1 revisits its 20-year history, the station looks back at reporter Lisa Reyes' September 7, 2008 coverage as Astroland amusement park in Coney Island closed its doors for good.
NY1 FOLLOW-UP: After Brooklyn said goodbye to Astroland, two other amusement parks took its place. First was Dreamland, which opened for one year in the summer of 2009. Then came Luna Park, named for the Coney Island amusement park in operation from 1903 to 1944. Luna opened in 2010. In its first season, 450,000 people visited the park, which is still in operation today.
