NY1 VIDEO: As NY1 revisits its 20-year history, the station looks back at reporter Karim Hajee's August, 1994 coverage of Desmond Robinson, an undercover MTA police officer who was critically wounded by so-called friendly fire from an off-duty NYPD officer.
NY1 FOLLOW-UP: Though Officer Del Debbio was indicted and convicted on assault charges stemming from the shooting of Robinson, he saw no jail time. He was instead sentenced to five years' probation and community service. Robinson later sued the city for damages, but dropped the lawsuit as part of a settlement for $3 million.
