NY1 VIDEO: On the evening of July 17, 1996, TWA Flight 800 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean minutes after it left JFK Airport en route to France, killing all 230 people on board. The wreckage was found a few miles off the coast of East Moriches, Long Island, a tiny town that became headquarters for rescuers, investigators and reporters. NY1's Mike Gilliam filed this report on the responders who first reached the crash site on the night the plane went down.
