An arrest was made Friday in the deadly shooting of a Manhattan student bound for graduate school. NY1's Natasha Ghoneim filed the following report.

A day after 21-year-old Matt Shaw's funeral, police arrested the man suspected of killing him.

20-year-old Khalid Rahman is charged with shooting Shaw on July 4 as he walked in Harlem.

"Him being arrested giving me some peace right now," said Jerome Shaw, Matt's brother. "'Cause he's off the street. He can't hurt nobody else."

Shaw recently graduated with a degree in finance from Le Moyne College in Syracuse and was heading to SUNY Albany to get his master's degree next month.

His mother said she was so worried about him being home for the summer, she sent him to Atlanta. But he wanted to celebrate the Fourth of July with friends back home in Harlem.

Shaw's organs have been donated and his family says he will live on.

"It's a sad tragedy but he's still here," Jerome said.

"A lot of good came out of it," said another relative.

Police haven't released additional details about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the killing. Shaw's mother says he was with two friends that night and there is no way he was the intended target.
