Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday it isn’t likely that the marijuana legislation he proposed earlier this month will come up for a vote before the end of the session.
The governor said it's a complicated issue and more time is needed to discuss it.
The proposed law would reduce the penalty for openly possessing 25 grams of marijuana or less to a violation instead of a misdemeanor.
The law could drastically reduce the number of people arrested for possession during police stop-and-frisks.
Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly both support the proposal.
