A record number of parents are looking to send their kids to charter schools in the city.

More than 130,000 applications have been submitted for the fall, about 1,000 more than last year.

Those numbers are according to the New York City Charter School Center, a nonprofit that supports charters.

There are only 14,600 slots available citywide.

The center estimates about four students are competing for each open seat.
