Ridership on the subway was booming in 2011, as according to an MTA report, 1.64 billion people hopped on trains -- the highest level of ridership since 1950.

Times Square remains the busiest station, followed by Grand Central.

The M and G lines had an increase of straphangers since 2010 when the lines were rerouted after the V line was eliminated.

The report also found the number of A train riders using the Aqueduct North station nearly doubled in 2011 from 2010.

At the nearby Aqueduct Racetrack station, which only operates on race days, ridership soared 83 percent.
