NY1 VIDEO: As NY1 News revisits its 20-year history, the station looks back at reporter Dean Meminger's April 2009 piece on fans' first look inside the new Yankees Stadium.
NY1 FOLLOW-UP: The building of the new stadium was not without controversy. It was built on Macomb's Dam Park with the promise that the parkland - including public ballfields - would be replaced once the old stadium was demolished. The projects would wind up millions over budget and years behind schedule - but are now complete. The final piece - the Macombs Dam ballfields - located on the footprint of the old Yankee Stadium, opened for a day in November, and is expected to officially open to the public this April.
